We still have a few more weeks until the first schoolie stripers migrate to the Cape, but until then many anglers here on MFCC have been hitting the kettle ponds for trout! 🐟
This video clip is from this past Wednesday afternoon, April 3rd, 2019. To read the full report and watch the full video, please head on over to 👉
Cape Cod is blessed with hundreds of gorgeous little ponds. Many of these kettle ponds were carved out thousands of years ago by glaciers during the last ice age. The ponds are deep, often have amazingly clear water, and are surrounded by wonderful scenery and nature.
Many of the kettle ponds have recently been stocked with thousands of rainbow, brown, brook and tiger trout. The month of April is hands down one of the best months to target these trout, before water temperatures start to heat up.
Early this week I swung by the Goose Hummock in Orelans and chatted with Chris Nashville and Erik Wisniewski. One lure which Erik recommended for trout fishing right now on Cape Cod is the old reliable Thomas Buoyant spoon 👉
This lure has been around for a long while, and has fooled countless amounts of trout over the years.
The buoyant spoon, when retrieved slowly through the water, sets forth a wobbling action, which trout often cannot resist. You’ll see some shots of the spoon in the accompanying video.
Final tally for this trip was 3 nice rainbow trout and several missed hits in about 2.5 hours of fishing. To read the full trout fishing report and to watch the full video, please head on over to 👉
